Move the side of the steps, and on one side mark out with a selection, the region you want to remove.

Fly to the other side of your block and RIGHT click on that side, inside the selection you made on the other side. Press backspace.

Ok Make a 3d selection where you want the glass to be. Hit f3 and make the material glass.

Visualise the steps, think what bits of the block you want to take away, how long you want the steps to be etc.

Set your selection size to what you think is necessary (G and scroll)

Move the side of the steps, and on one side mark out with a selection, the region you want to remove.

Fly to the other side of your block and RIGHT click on that side, inside the selection you made on the other side. Press backspace.

Continue, until you remove all the bits you need.
