SSP mode, short for Side-scrolling platformer, is Sandbox's mode for creating side-scroller games, such as the original Mario games. It is currently under development and is not being focused on, with RPG mode being the main focus at the current moment. There is no scripting for SSP mode, unlike FPS and RPG.
