How to contribute to Platinum Arts Sandbox

If you would like to contribute to Platinum Arts Sandbox, there are two very good ways to do so:

1) Create custom content. This specifically means creating textures, models, skyboxes, music and sounds for Sandbox to use in later versions. If you decide to do so, then you should create your content, then contact Mike (Calimer) about your content. You need to have a license for the content: CC-BY-SA 3.0 is quite nice. Your other content option is to create maps that may be included as eyecandy maps, such as the house and island, in future versions.

2) This is NOT RECOMMENDED. I REPEAT, NOT RECOMMENDED. You could try to learn C++ to modify the Sandbox engine. From there, you could assist in developing the engine. However, learning C++ is quite a challenge, and understanding source code is even harder. Again, this is NOT RECOMMENDED.

3) I know I only said two, but this isn't really directly related to Sandbox. You could do work with other programs, such as Gimp or Blender, and create plug-ins or addons that we can take advantage of. An example of this would be writing a Blender exporter for a format Sandbox supports, such as .md3. With newer versions, things change, and some exporters don't always work well.

4) Another unrelated idea: be a member of the community. Register and get in the forums if you haven't done so yet. If you want a change for Sandbox, this is a good way to get it noticed. Also, you can constructively criticize other people's maps, and learn with everyone else. Edit this wiki, add to it. Make it easier for other users to understand how to use the program. Also update and edit the (outdated) Wikipedia page.
